Genshin Artifact Appraiser
Appraise Theorycraft Help

GAA is still in early closed alpha! Please do not share the link with others. There are probably a lot of bugs, so message Kokomi when you find them.

Help - Select Character

Click on a character to appraise the artifact equipped on the character.

If the "Add Account" button is clicked, the account UID and all current showcased characters will be saved to your browser. Next time you use the Appraiser, it will add or update the showcased characters and keep the characters that were taken out of the showcase. Up to 50 accounts can be saved per browser. Your browser must allow usage of localStorage if you like to use this feature.

If you have an added account, you can also manually add characters to the account. Click on the "+" character slot to do this. Characters can also be removed in the same window by clicking the greyed-out character.

"Import HoYoLAB JSON" is an undocumented experimental feature. I haven't figured out a user-friendly way to get this file. If you are a programmer, the JSON file can be obtained from the endpoint https://sg-public-api.hoyolab.com/event/game_record/genshin/api/character/detail when you use Battle Chronicle. Fill the character_ids array with IDs of all the characters you want (see IDs here).

Add Account

This account will be remembered by GAA on your browser. If characters are taken out of the showcase, GAA will still have the details of the old characters that it saw before.

Remove Account

This account will be removed from GAA on your browser. 0 characters you saved for will be deleted.

Help - Select Build

First, select a build from the list. Information about the builds will be shown. Weapons and artifact sets listed will be supported by the build. If you have a different weapon or artifact set equipped, the weapon/set passive may not apply to the build calculation.

The ER requirement is after taking consideration of passives that raise ER or provide energy. For instance, if a build description states a 160% ER requirement but you only have 140% ER with a well-refined Prototype Amber, you already comfortably meet the ER requirement. The effective ER requirement is visible in the final output (not here! Go through two more pages to see) as the Energy Recharge target under "Character Stats".

Click on the bottom right "Select Build" button to continue.

Help - Levels

Use the "Edit Character", "Edit Weapon", and "Pick Artifact Set" buttons to change

  • Character level
  • Character constellation
  • Character talent levels
  • Weapon (only supported weapons can be picked)
  • Weapon level
  • Weapon refinement
  • Artifact set (only supported artifact sets can be picked)

Thousands of accounts will be simulated with the specified levels of character/weapon/artifact set. These simulated accounts will then be compared and used to judge your damage and stat numbers.

The bottom table shows actions you can take to level up your character and weapon. It is sorted by the resin efficiency of the action (the top is the most efficient action). Resin cost is just a very rough approximation. Material cost also may have a tiny bit of rounding and does not list local specialties or materials that do not require resin.

It is recommended that you appraise artifacts after bringing your character and weapon up to a decent level. Otherwise, the appraisal may be skewed because the appraiser will attempt to optimize the build with those levels. If you are happy with the levels, press the "Appraise Artifacts" button to get to the appraisal.

Edit Artifact Set

Editing this artifact set means you will be compared against simulated accounts that farmed specifically for this artifact set. Optimal builds will only list artifacts that meets this set effect.

Help - Character Stats

Your character's stat is shown here. It is separated by damage numbers and attribute values. The damage numbers may not be exact in practice, since build formulas have to make some assumptions (e.g. estimating Furina's fanfare buff, pegging enemy level and resistance).

"Target" is the range of values that the middle 80% of the simulated accounts fell into. You are compared against the simulated accounts with the same character level, talent level, constellation, weapon, weapon level, weapon refinement, and the artifact set you chose in the previous step. So it is only judging your artifact build.

"Assessment" shows where you fall in that range of values. Possible assessments are: Too low, Low, Okay, Great, High, and Very high. If your build is rated poorly by GAA, you are probably lacking in one of the attributes. For instance, you may have a healthy amount of crits, but if ER is too low, the overall result may be subpar. Aim to reach at least okay or great in all relevant attributes.

Help - Artifact Appraisal

Now the most important part: artifact appraisal! It shows your character's equipped artifacts and the appraiser's evaluation of the artifacts.

  • AV - Appraiser Value: Weighted roll value by GAA. The weight is shown below the appraisal.
  • RV - Roll Value: Amount of "good" substat rolls, where 100% is the unit of one maximum substat roll.
  • CV - Crit Value: (crit rate)*2 + (crit damage). The main stat from a circlet is included.
Artifact rank is determined by the AV among random artifacts dropped from an artifact domain (thus having a 20% chance of getting four lines) leveled all the way to 20. TODO: This is subject to change soon.
  • S (Amazing) - top 2 percentile AV
  • A (Great) - top 6 percentile AV
  • B (Good) - top 12 percentile AV
  • C (Okay) - top 20 percentile AV
  • D (Poor) - top 30 percentile AV
  • F (Awful) - below 30 percentile AV

Appraisal is specific to the character build and the selected character levels/constellations/talent levels, the selected weapon level/refinement, and the target artifact set. The artifact may be rated poorly, but it may be great for other characters or even for the same character with a different build.

When the appraisal says N rolls on substats, it's also counting the initial roll. For instance, 7.8% is when you get two max crit rate rolls. GAA will treat this as TWO sub stat rolls, but the game will display ONE.

For artifacts that are not fully leveled, it shows the histogram of the potential AV percentile when the artifact is fully leveled.

"Days to replace" is the very rough estimation of the average time it takes to get an artifact of the same part with higher AV, if it was farmed actively from a domain. This value depends on whether the piece is on-set or off-set. In practice, you could get something better first try or never get it. Don't take this value too seriously. Just use it to get a feeling for the relative difficulty of getting a replacement for this artifact.

Help - Artifact Iventory

All artifacts on this account known by GAA is listed here. You can add your artifact inventory using the "Import Artifacts" button at the bottom. It lets you upload a GOOD JSON file from Artiscan or other tools. It currently only reads the artifact data.

  • Set - On-set is highlighted. Sorted by on-set first, followed by recent sets.
  • Rarity - Higher rarity ones are highlighted.
  • Level - Higher levels are highlighted.
  • Character - Shows which character is currently equipping the artifact. Sorts by GAA character name (i.e. Inazuman family name is omitted, so "Kokomi" comes between "Klee" and "Lan Yan")
  • Main Stat - Higher AV value is highlighted. Sorted by AV value.
  • Sub Stats - AV value amount is highlighted. Cannot sort.
  • AV - Appraiser Value. Appraisal rank is also shown.
  • RV - Roll Value
  • CV - Crit Value
  • Edit - Edit the artifact (TODO: Not implemented yet!)
  • Exclude - Exclude this artifact from the "Optimal Builds" calculation.

For artifacts that are not fully leveled, it shows the middle 80 percentile range of potential AV/RV/CV after fully leveling. Sorting those works on the median potential value.

Sorting is "stable", so you can combine them (e.g. sort by AV and then by set).

Help - Optimal Builds

GAA goes through the artifacts on this account known by GAA and outputs the best artifact builds. Click on a row to see the stat and appraisal of that build.

Objective value is shown with a percentage, which is compared against the currently equipped set. A highlighted ER value means that it is the best build with that ER threshold. The red line below the character means that the piece is the off-set piece.

These builds only consider sets that satisfy the set effect specified in the last step. If you selected 4pc emblem in the "Levels" step, it only lists builds with 4pc emblem.

GAA uses a heuristic to quickly find the optimal builds, only going through a few tens of thousands of combinations, so one cannot guarantee that it won't miss a better build. However, in practice, it should be accurate most of the time.
